Sustainability project

Instead of spending resources on flyers and promotional gifts, the university-wide student survey supports an initiative to strengthen Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) at Goethe University. For this purpose, three measures and events are scheduled for the summer term of 2023 - in collaboration with the Goethe-Orientierungsstudium and GU's Sustainability Office. These events are targeted at both the general student body and specifically first-year students. For more information, click on the events.

Additional measures and events are planned for the winter term of 2023/24 - updates will be available on this website.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding sustainability at GU, please contact the Sustainability Office at: nachhaltigkeit@uni-frankfurt.de.

During the orientation week for first-year students of the Goethe-Orientierungsstudium Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften (GO GuS), we will make a stop at the permaculture garden on the Westend Campus during the Campus Rally! We want to create enthusiasm for this great project on campus right from the start of your studies and encourage your active participation.

Have you already visited the permaculture gardens at the Riedberg and Westend campuses of GU (Goethe's Green Office)?

On May 3, 2023, from 4-6pm in HZ 9, sustainability expert Dr. Ute Symanski will contribute to the public lecture series "What is University?" on the topic of sustainability and university. This lecture also serves as an impulse for the kick-off workshop that will take place directly afterwards, organized in cooperation with the network n. We warmly invite all students to work together to develop ideas and projects for how sustainability can be practically implemented and lived at Goethe University. The student projects that emerge from the workshop can be funded by the "Sustainability Initiative", so that your good ideas can become a reality. So save the date! The workshop will take place from 6-8pm on the third floor (foyer and terrace) of the auditorium complex (HZ).

Planned Procedure for Kick-Off Workshop

In this workshop, the network n will work together with the participants to redefine "Education for Sustainable Development" and develop a shared understanding of it. Based on this, there will be an exchange on how ESD can be implemented. We will develop project ideas for our university, which can be financially supported and implemented together with the Sustainability Office.

As part of a career field orientation day organized by the Goethe-Orientierungsstudiums Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften (GO GuS), a panel discussion on "Occupations with Sustainability Relevance" is planned towards the end of the lecture period on June 24, 2023. Representatives from different professions will discuss their career paths as well as the requirements and challenges in their respective fields. As sustainability becomes increasingly important in the future job market, exciting prospects in this area may also open up for you as a student.
